It seems Wrexham has its sights set on a January transfer bid for Bristol City’s forward Harry Cornick.
Wrexham’s reported interest has been revealed as the club’s manager Liam Manning acknowledges that the 29-year-old is free to seek new opportunities in the transfer period. Despite his versatility as a striker or winger, Cornick hasn’t clocked any playtime in the Championship this season and was notably absent from the squad during Bristol Citys 2-0 loss at West Brom last Sunday.
As Cornick sits on the sidelines at Ashton Gate, journalist Darren Witcoop shared on X that Wrexham is ready to pounce, with Charlton Athletic also showing interest. This comes while Phil Parkinson’s soccer team struggles to find the net, conceding late ties in recent games.

When Bristol Live questioned Manning about Cornicks future post-match, he praised the player’s character but admitted expectations of his desire to consider options when the January window opens.
The Bristol City chief said: “I’ve had a chat with Corns and it’s tough because he’s one a top person and two a top professional. I know he would have been frustrated at not getting minutes but we had that chat in the summer that it might be the case.
“I can’t commend him enough for how he’s conducted himself. With January coming up, I’m sure he’ll want to explore options as we’ll allow him to.
“We’ve had those chats with Corns but as I said, it’s always harder when you’ve got someone that’s such a good person and a pro. We’ll have to see how that turns out.”
Cornick began his journey in football with non-league Christchurch before moving on to Bournemouth. The forward netted 38 goals across 235 games for Luton from August 2017 until he switched to Bristol City in January 2023.
Despite making over 60 appearances for the Robins, Cornick has struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting line-up. If Cornick does make the move to Wrexham, he’ll reunite with former teammate Elliot Lee from their days at Luton.
Meanwhile, Wrexham’s boss Parkinson is open about his plans to invest in new talent this January. Just last week, the 57-year-old manager said: “We’re not standing still – we’re looking and speaking with agents all the time.
“We’ve had our eye on the ball for quite a while with the January transfer window in mind. Everybody in this window will be assessing their squad, looking at the market and looking to add quality. Quite often with those quality players, you’ll get two or three clubs competing for that signature. We’ll be in the mix if the right player becomes available.”
Parkinson also emphasized owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s smart spending, saying: “With Rob and Ryan, we’ve always identified the players then explained why we feel player X would improve us, what he’s going to cost, wages and made a case for that. Then we’ve made the decisions accordingly.
“They know what we’d like to do but equally we’re not going to do something for the sake of it and that’s really, really important. Sometimes that temptation to go and sign somebody, it can disrupt what you’ve got already and the player you’re bringing in doesn’t significantly improve you.”
