Travis Kelce’s teammates on the Kansas City Chiefs went all out this Christmas, gifting him a stunning array of presents valued at a whopping $120,000 to make up for items stolen from his home.
Back in October, Kelce’s $6 million mansion was hit by burglars who made off with precious items, including $100,000 in jewelry, $20,000 in cash, his first Super Bowl jersey, and a watch that was later found in Rhode Island. The break-in, which took less than 15 minutes, is still under FBI investigation. Following the incident, an “upset and angry” Kelce beefed up his home security after NFL warnings about a South American crime gang targeting players.
Despite the ordeal, his fellow Chiefs players sought to lift Kelce’s spirits with a touching Christmas gesture. According to The Sun, after a team meeting, Kelce was handed a box and told to open it then and there. Inside, he found jerseys from NFL icons like Tom Brady, Ray Lewis, and Rob Gronkowski, all destined for his beloved man cave.
A source told the outlet: “He opened the box and felt like a kid at Christmas. “They are going straight to his man cave, where he loves to hang out. Those pieces are going to be so special for him. Travis couldn’t stop saying thank you to everyone.”
The report reveals that “everybody contributed” to the initiative, with Kelce’s brother Jason using his Philadelphia connections to snag a jersey from Eagles star Saquon Barkley. Patrick Mahomes, Travis’ good friend, also threw in a Chiefs jersey for the cause.
The NFL community has been on edge as a series of burglaries targeting players have unfolded. Mahomes experienced a break-in on October 6, and the very next day, while both were on duty for the Chiefs against the New Orleans Saints, Travis’ home was also burglarized.
Following the incident, Travis upgraded his home security with new locks and other extensive safety measures. At 35, Kelce hasn’t made any public statements about the theft, whereas Mahomes only touched on the matter briefly during a Chiefs press conference in November, expressing: “It’s frustrating, it’s disappointing.”
He added: “I can’t get into too many details because the investigation is still ongoing. It’s obviously something you don’t want happening to anybody, but especially yourself.”
