Never count out the 2024 Washington Commanders.
Jayden Daniels and the Commanders wrapped up a 14-point comeback victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, as Daniels found Jamison Crowder for a go-ahead touchdown with six seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Commanders won 36-33.
The score capped off a drive that started at Washington’s own 43-yard line with just under two minutes left in regulation.
Daniels showed impressive poise on the Commanders’ final possession, especially after throwing an interception on the previous drive.
The rookie passer finished 24-of-39 for 257 yards and a career-high five touchdowns while getting picked off twice. Daniels also picked up 82 rush yards on nine attempts.
Washington turned the ball over five times against Philadelphia, trailing by 14 points in the first half and facing a 13-point deficit entering the fourth quarter.
Fans and pundits were amazed by the turnaround from Daniels and the Commanders.
The Eagles already clinched a playoff spot, but they had an opportunity to secure a division title with a victory on Sunday.
Saquon Barkley led the way for Philadelphia, rushing for 150 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries.
Jalen Hurts opened the game under center, but he left early with a concussion and was replaced by Kenny Pickett. Pickett finished 14-of-24 for 143 yards and a touchdown to go along with an interception, while late drops from Barkley and DeVonta Smith prevented the Eagles from sealing a win.
Philadelphia fell to 12-3 with the loss, while Washington improved to 10-5.
