Dallas Cowboys superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb expressed his belief after Monday night’s loss to the Houston Texans that opposing teams are perhaps trying to make an example of them.
Speaking to reporters following the Cowboys’ 34-10 home defeat to the Texans, Lamb said, “Obviously everybody is looking to embarrass us.”
Although the Cowboys were within seven points of the Texans at halftime of Monday’s game, Houston took over in the second half by outscoring Dallas 17-0.
Dallas entered Monday’s game with a disappointing 3-6 record on the season and little reason for hope due to the fact that star quarterback Dak Prescott is out for the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury.
However, even when Prescott was healthy, the Cowboys suffered some one-sided losses, including a 44-19 blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints and a 47-9 drubbing at the hands of the Detroit Lions.
Last week, in their first game with Cooper Rush as the starting quarterback, the Cowboys were no match for the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles in a 34-6 loss.
Although the Cowboys played slightly more inspired football Monday night, the Texans still managed to win in blowout fashion, dropping Dallas to a shocking 0-5 at home this season and 3-7 overall.
If that wasn’t bad enough, the Texans’ social media team took their victory as an opportunity to do some trolling at the Cowboys’ expense.
The Texans made a post on X poking fun at the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight that took place at the Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium on Friday, as well as a post making light of the piece of the AT&T Stadium roof that fell off while opening it prior to Monday’s game:
To the victors go the spoils in the NFL, so it is fair to say the Cowboys can expect to see more jokes at their expense until they start playing winning football.
Doing that is easier said than done without Prescott, who was the NFL MVP runner-up last season.
Additionally, the Cowboys have virtually no running game, ranking 31st in the NFL with 81.7 rushing yards per game, plus they rank 31st in scoring defense, allowing 29.3 points per game.
The Cowboys’ playoff hopes are likely all but over unless they somehow win out, meaning they are essentially playing for pride and to avoid the embarrassing losses Lamb alluded to on Monday night.
