Logan Paul was left embarrassed when an online poll about possibly clashing with Conor McGregor didn’t quite yield the support he anticipated.
Buzz earlier this month claimed that discussions were underway for a bout between McGregor and the older Paul sibling, despite rumors that McGregor was plotting a return to the UFC to face featherweight champion Ilia Topuria. Setting the record straight on social media, the ‘Notorious’ one explained: “The rumours of a bout with [Ilia] Topuria are false.
“I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.” One of the world’s richest families, the Ambanis are reportedly looking at booking a super-fight between McGregor and Paul for next year.
Spurring more hype about a potential clash, McGregor teased his social media followers with hints about the big fight – reposting a social media post that suggested that a face-off between himself and the YouTube sensation at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium could make each man an incredible $250million – although these claims have not been verified as factual.
And McGregor hasn’t been alone in his posting on social media pertaining the event, with Paul also taking to X to ask fans to predict the outcome of a prospective bout with the former UFC two-division champion. While WWE star Paul undoubtedly expected his fanbase to rally behind him, his poll on matters backfired in spectacular fashion.
That’s because 63 per cent backed McGregor to reign supreme should the two men go to war. McGregor may be tasked with oiling away ring rust when he finally makes his return to the world of combat sports – having not fought since his 2021 trilogy loss to Dustin Poirier in the UFC, in which he suffered a brutal leg break.
The Irishman looked to return to the Octagon in a bout with Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June this year, but a broken toe forced him away from the long-awaited face-off between the two rivals. Elsewhere, Logan’s younger brother, Jake Paul, is stirring up rumors of his own pertaining to a fight with McGregor.
On X, the 27-year-old claimed that McGregor’s management team have been trying to sign a fight between McGregor and Jake, writing: “Now it all makes sense why Conor McGregor and his management team have been desperately trying to get MVP to negotiate for a fight between us.
“As we told them privately and I’m now saying it publicly…the only way we’re willing to explore me vs Conor in a pro boxing / MMA fight is if Dana White / UFC are at the table directly or make it clear they are ok with discussions. Conor is washed. Needs the Paul’s. Logan by however he wants.”
