On November 6 (U.S. East Coast time), results of the 2024 U.S. presidential election were confirmed, with Republican candidate Donald Trump securing victory. According to the preliminary vote count as of 1:30AM, Trump achieved at least 270 electoral votes, crossing the necessary threshold and defeating Democratic candidate Kamala Harris to reclaim the White House as the 47th president of the United States.
The key win came in Pennsylvania, a battleground state carrying 19 electoral votes, which helped secure Trump’s path to victory. This win marks Trump’s second term in office, following his first tenure from 2016 to 2020.
Sweeping Victories in Battleground States
Election Day, November 5, Trump performed remarkably, sweeping a series of vital battleground states. In total, he claimed victories in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania—states that collectively hold 93 electoral votes. These decisive wins solidified his return to the presidency and demonstrated strong support across key regions.

The day after the results were finalized, President-elect Donald Trump addressed an enthusiastic crowd of supporters in Palm Beach, Florida, where he expressed gratitude and celebrated the victory.
Upcoming Steps in the Electoral Process
The electoral colleges from each state are set to convene on December 17 to cast their official votes, formalizing Donald Trump’s election as the next U.S. president. He will take the oath of office on January 20, 2025, at the U.S. Capitol, marking the beginning of his second term.
