Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark has admitted that she is relishing the opportunity to take up golf during the WNBA off-season – as the newly-crowned Rookie of the Year enjoys a break from basketball.
The 22-year-old made the successful transition to the professional game as she delivered on her billing as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 draft. The former Iowa hero averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game, while breaking numerous records during her maiden campaign.
Despite her team’s playoff run running aground in the first round versus the Connecticut Sun, Clark can look back on an impressive first year in the WNBA with pride. However, it appears that the youngster is eager to put basketball to the back of her mind for now as she looks forward to a well-earned rest.

The starlet already has some plans in place for the off-season, with an appearance at the The Annika’s pro-am in November as she turns her talents to the LPGA Tour. Indulging her love for golf some more, she is also due to attend the Women’s Leadership Summit at Pelican Golf Club during her time off.
Speaking with excitement ahead of this period, she said: “I love golf, so the opportunity to play in the pro-am for a tournament with a legend like Annika Sorenstam’s name on it is so exciting. I’m looking forward to seeing all the LPGA players on the driving range, being part of the Women’s Leadership Summit, and, of course, teeing it up in the pro-am with Annika.”
Going into more detail about her plans after her rookie season, she said: “I don’t know what I’m going to do tomorrow, I don’t know what I’m going to do the next day. Maybe play some golf. I think that’s what I’m going to do until it gets too cold in Indiana. So, I got that. I’ll become a professional golfer.”

Clark has also been honest about the impact of the demands of the glaring spotlight too as she reflected on her first year in the WNBA, saying: “It’s like everybody’s always watching your every move, no matter what you’re doing.
“The best thing that I’ve tried to live by is to just be the same person, whether I’m leaving my apartment every single day or whether I’m here sitting in front of all of you. I’ve tried to approach it in the same exact manner that I can and treat everybody with the same amount of respect.”
Looking forward to a break from the intense scrutiny that she experiences both on and off the basketball court, the prodigy added: “I was like, ‘I don’t know what I’m going to really do.
“It’s going to be nice though, I think, getting out of the spotlight and just getting to live my life and do things that I want to do. It will definitely be a little bit of an adjustment period.
