Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend has faced the wrath of Taylor Swift fans as they urged her to “move on” from their romance.

Kayla Nicole started dating the NFL star in 2017 before they split five years later. Travis then started dating Taylor in 2023, but it seems Kayla hasn’t found it quite so easy to move on.

In a trailer for the upcoming reality TV show Special Forces, Kayla admitted she found the split from Travis “overwhelming.” She broke down in tears as she said, “Going through a public breakup, it’s been overwhelming.”

Later, when asked by another contestant who her ex-boyfriend is, Kayla whispered, “Travis Kelce.” Following the release of the trailer, Taylor’s fans took to X as they begged her to “move on.”

““Public break up”. Who? Never heard of you,” one person wrote. Another urged, “Like gurl, MOVE ON. It’s 2024,” while a third Taylor fan said, “Yeah, it was so overwhelming that you’re still trying to use it to stay relevant.”

Someone else posted, “She didn’t have a public breakup. They brokw (sic) up in 2022. He dated Swift in 2023. She had 1 whole year of quiet time of her break up.”

Kayla has previously spoken about Travis and Taylor’s romance as she admitted to receiving a lot of backlash after the pair first started dating. The sports journalist said she was subjected to “embarrassment” at the beginning of Taylor and Travis’ relationship.

Speaking in an Instagram video, Kayla said it was important for her to use her platform to “elevate and unite women” before addressing “black women, specifically”. She began: “Dear black girl, they may call you a traitor for falling in love. You’ll hope the ones closest will protect you, but you will quickly find out that people don’t protect what they don’t value. They’ll say you’re too much, too provocative, too boisterous, too outspoken and in the same breath tell you that you’re not enough. Not successful enough, not wholesome enough, maybe not even intelligent enough.”

She continued, “They’ll say you deserve the backlash and embarrassment, because of your blackness, you should have known better. They’ll even try to tie your value to your net worth. But black girl, please remember your value lies elsewhere.”

Kayla then told her followers that their value is “deep within your heart.” She added, “Even when they try to quantify your character and test your boundaries, you do not have to engage. You do not have to respond because there is power in your silence.”

The model admitted she had questioned: “Why me?” after being the victim of backlash. She told fans, “I’m reminded that this isn’t just about me, this isn’t just my story, a singular experience. My truth, trauma and vulnerability is a relatable part of the human experience. I know I’m not alone and I want to make sure that you know that you aren’t either.”
