Shedeur Sanders played down the thought of potentially being selected by the New York Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sanders is one of the most prominent names in college football, playing quarterback for Colorado while his father Deion serves as head coach. Since losing to Nebraska back in September, Colorado has won seven of the next eight games to sit at 8-2 and in contention for the College Football Playoff.
Sanders is projected to come off the board early and could even be the No. 1 overall pick. Alongside Florida’s Cam Ward and Georgia’s Carson Beck, the 22-year-old represents the most intriguing quarterback prospect on offer – and plenty of franchises are going to be in the mix to select him.

Currently, the Jacksonville Jaguars would have the rights to the first overall pick, ahead of the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and Giants. With at least two of those franchises potentially looking at the quarterback position, Big Blue may need to move up to get Sanders, especially after their need for a quarterback became more apparent on Friday.
After Daniel Jones spent part of the open portion of practice wearing a red scout team jersey while lined up at safety throughout the offensive install period, the Giants decided to cut ties with the quarterback. Giants President John Mara confirmed the decision to move on came after Jones approached the organization and asked to be let go.
Sanders later liked ESPN’s post featuring Mara’s statement. And it wasn’t the only hint at his NFL future from the Colorado star.
With the draft on the horizon and the order shaking out, Sanders and Colorado teammate Drelon Miller were talking about the Giants when the receiver suggested that all the NFC East franchise needed was “someone good out of the draft” and then cleared his throat, indicating Sanders was the man. Sanders asked why he was clearing his throat like that, and Miller simply said that he and Malik Nabers previously played together.

Sanders then addressed the Giants, saying: “Come on, man, I don’t know. Nah I think it’s just up to the staff or up to the coaches at that point, I don’t know – no comment, that’s just a safe route for me. Just no comment.”
While Sanders has played it cool when it comes to the Giants, he has been more blatant with his feelings about joining the Las Vegas Raiders. Both he and his father Deion have directly referenced their hopes to land in Sin City, where their close friend and mentor Tom Brady is a minority owner.
For now, Sanders is focused on Colorado, where he has thrown for 3,222 yards, 27 touchdowns, and seven interceptions across 10 games. His accuracy, in-game leadership, and composure have helped elevate the No. 16 Buffaloes, who are next in action against 4-6 Kansas on Saturday, Nov. 23.
