The Green Bay Packers are expected to be much more aggressive this offseason than they have been in recent years. After signing both Xavier McKinney and Josh Jacobs last offseason and finding major success with both players, the Packers could take a similar approach this year.

Looking at the current roster, Green Bay has a few needs to focus on. One of them happens to be the need to add pass rushing talent.

Jeff Hafley led the Packers to a much better defensive season in 2024 than Joe Barry had been producing. However, it was clear that Green Bay needed to get to the quarterback at a much higher level.

With that being said, it sounds like the Packers might already have one of their top free agency targets scoped out.

According to a joint report from Wendell Ferreira and Destin Adams of AtoZ Sports, Green Bay is expected to target Indianapolis Colts’ free agent defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo when free agency opens.

“According to sources with knowledge of the situation, when the 2025 free agency period opens at 12 p.m. ET on Monday, March 10, Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo is expected to be one of the Packers’ top targets in free agency.”

Odeyingbo would be a big-time addition for the Packers. He has shown elite potential and is just 25 years old.

During the 2024 NFL season, he played in 17 games and was able to record 31 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. Those numbers may not turn a lot of heads.

Back in 2023, however, Odeyingbo totaled 38 tackles, eight sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two defended passes in 17 games.

His past two years combined have given teams around the NFL reason to believe that he can take a big step forward with a bigger role. In Green Bay, he would have that role and would fit nicely into the system that Hafley runs.

Spotrac currently has Odeyingbo’s market value projected at a contract worth just under $63.9 million over the course of four years.

If that is indeed his price tag, the Packers would be able to afford him. He’s worth taking a long look at and pursuing at the very least for Green Bay. It will be interesting to see if they end up landing him.
