BREAKING NEWS: New York Yankees Contact Former Mets Hitter as Concerns Over Giancarlo Stanton Rise .giang

The New York Yankees have reached out to former New York Mets star J.D. Martinez, with the return date of designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton still unknown.

Stanton remains on the sidelines for the Yankees, with the hitter continuing to recover from a tendon issue in his elbow. This has left a large hole in the New York franchise’s team. What is all the more concerning for the Yankees, is that they are still to determine when Stanton will return.

The 35-year-old from Los Angeles is currently suffering from the equivalent of tennis elbow in both of his elbows and with the new campaign quickly approaching, the Yankees face a huge problem.

Providing an update last month, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said: “We want to make sure we’re giving that as much time [as it needs], so we’ll probably slow-play him a little bit. I’m expecting him to be OK, it’s just a matter of when we want to start really rolling it out to give us the best chance to get as much of him as we can.”

“I’m not going to put any timeline on it,” Boone said of a potential return for one of his key men. “We’re going to be smart with it and listen to it.” Amid the uncertainty of his return date, it appears Boone and co are now looking elsewhere, with the New York Post reporting that they have held talks with Martinez.

The six-time all-star and 2018 World Series champion spent the 2024 campaign on the other side of New York, competing for the Mets. Having signed a one-year $12 million contract at Citi Field, the 37-year-old played in 120 games in Mets colors throughout the campaign.

Aaron Judge revealed this week that he had checked in with Stanton, who was left “frustrated” due to starting the season on the injury list. “It’s going to be tough because you can’t replace a guy like him,” Judge said. “Just beside the numbers he’s going to put up, there is the fear factor; you’ve got No. 27 lurking on deck behind you. It kind of always helps you out.”

Revealing just how important he is to the team and discussing what options he and his teammates are left with, captain Judge added: “You can’t really replace Stanton, his production, and what he does — having somebody like that in the middle of the lineup. But I’m open. Boonie always communicates well with me on what his plan is and what he wants to do.”
