Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt are offering their best marriage advice.
The couple recently caught up with PEOPLE to talk about how life has been since getting married in 2022. Pitt explains that “nothing really changed” when they tied the knot, but their love is still going strong.
“Married life is great,” Amabile, 38, says as Pitt, 27, adds, “Pretty easy, which I feel like is a good sign.”
“We were already living together and we don’t have a kid,” she continues. “It’s fun!”
When it comes to their biggest tips for maintaining a happy relationship, Pitt says they don’t overthink things.
“I can’t speak to 20 years of marriage, but we’re a year in, and I just think having fun,” she shares. “It doesn’t have to be that serious. Have fun together. Enjoy life, enjoy your relationship.
Besides signing some paperwork and realizing they should “maybe have a will,” Pitt notes she would have been concerned if marriage changed the dynamic of their relationship in major ways.
“The hope is that things stay as easy and effortless as they were before you get married,” she says. “And they have, so that’s great.”
Amabile attributes that ease to good communication, saying that bottling up emotions will only lead to resentment and “before you know it, you’re a few years in and you’re unhappy.”
“Oh, my God, he’s not talking from experience!” Pitt chimes in.
“No, but I’m saying that’s kind of how it happens,” he explains. “I’m somebody, I can’t keep anything in, so it’s just all out.”
“Yeah, Joe experiences every single emotion every single day — multiple times,” Pitt laughs.

The pair first met in 2021 on season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise and got married at a New York City courthouse in October 2022. The following year, they had an extravagant wedding ceremony in Charleston, South Carolina, which they admitted to PEOPLE earlier this month that it was “a little much.”
“We don’t know which one to celebrate!” Pitt said while Amabile jokes, “That’s what comes with going on reality TV and meeting.”
Despite having two anniversaries, the pair said their “honeymoon phase” has outlasted their expectations.
“There’s so many things about him that I thought may die off after the honeymoon stage,” Pitt revealed. “Joe still just continues to surprise me with little gifts and thoughtful gestures and that really is who he is, and I love that.”
