Former Cincinnati Bengals star Adam “Pacman” Jones is facing multiple charges in Texas after taking part in a fight at a hotel bar, according to police.
Jones, 41, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday Nov. 16 and charged with public intoxication, assault of a peace officer and resisting and evading arrest, according to the Arlington Police Department (APD)’s booking records.
The APD told PEOPLE in a statement that an officer, who was off-duty and working a shift at the Live by Loews hotel, was notified by security just after 1 a.m. that “a fight had broken out in the bar area.” However, by the time the officer arrived at the scene, the “individuals involved” in the fight — including Jones — had already “been separated.”
Police said that at this time, the former NFL player “continued approaching and yelling at the others involved” in the altercation, which prompted the officer to step between them and issue a warning to Jones that if he “tried to fight again, he would be arrested.”
A fight broke out in the bar area again involving Jones “a short time later,” which prompted the officer and hotel security to once again step in.
“While the officer and hotel security were working to separate the individuals involved, Mr. Jones hit the officer on her arm,” the APD said in its statement. “At that point, [the officer] informed Mr. Jones [that] she was placing him under arrest for Assault on a Peace Officer.”

The APD added that the officer requested backup, and while she was waiting for them to arrive, she tried to place Jones in handcuffs. However, Jones “got free and started walking away.”
Additional officers eventually arrived on the scene and “assisted with taking him into custody,” the APD said.
Jones was booked into the Arlington City Jail at around 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 16, according to booking records. His bail was set at $319.
Jones’ representatives did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
However, one of his reps told TMZ Sports, which first reported the news, that the former football cornerback “adamantly denies the allegations and looks forward to explaining the truth when the time comes.”
They added to the outlet that Jones had been “in town” for the Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight “like thousands of other people in Dallas last night,” and had been “enjoying himself, spending time with the fans.” He added that “Pacman was returning to his hotel to wind down for the evening” and “was not looking for trouble.”
This isn’t the first time the former cornerback has had a run-in with the law.
Last year, he was arrested at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport after causing a disturbance as an “unruly passenger” on a flight, multiple news outlets reported at the time.
He was booked on misdemeanor counts of alcohol intoxication, disorderly conduct and terroristic threatening.
Prior to that, in 2017, the former NFL player was arrested on charges of assault, disorderly conduct, obstructing official business and harassment with a bodily substance after allegedly creating a disturbance at the Millennium Hotel in Cincinnati, which police confirmed to PEOPLE at the time.
