Head coach Brian Daboll made history on Sunday in Atlanta, leading the New York Giants to their 10th consecutive loss, a new franchise record in humiliating futility.

Not even “The Wilderness Years” saw a 10-game losing streak.

The Giants could extend that streak to 12 with games against the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles remaining. In the process, they would also become the only team in NFL history to go 0-9 at home in a single season.

After their latest defeat, Daboll had only a single answer.

“We weren’t good enough,” he told reporters.

Daboll then repeated that phrase 10 times throughout his press conference using slightly different variations.

“I’ll just say look it’s not good enough,” he said. “It wasn’t good enough.”

When pressed on the team’s poor play, Daboll attempted to redirect criticism away from his players, instead opting to shoulder the blame himself.

“At the end of the day, if it wasn’t good enough, that’s my fault,” he said. “It’s not good enough. Again, that’s my responsibility. You do everything you can do each week. Obviously, not good enough. Of course, after every game, it hurts. It hurts to lose. I put a lot into it. We have two more to finish off.”

Daboll also accepted responsibility for two procedural penalties called against rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers.

“Unacceptable, can’t have it, again, put it on me,” he said.

And that’s likely what will happen. Two weeks from today, it’s probable that Daboll is fired because he simply “wasn’t good enough.”
