Police were called when the three young children ventured outside the apartment in search of food
A Texas couple was found dead in their home in what police described as an apparent murder-suicide, leaving their three young children alone at the scene.
Officers with the Houston Police Department responded on Monday to reports of three young children in the parking lot outside an apartment complex asking for food. When they arrived at the location on Meadowglen Lane, located on the western side of the city, they discovered the bodies of a man and woman, Lt. Larry Crowson told members of the media later that day.
Their three young children, ages 1, 2, and 3, were found without injuries and are being cared for, he said. It comes after an evil dad’s incest secret was hidden in a family photo before all seven were killed in a massacre.
The Houston police officers started talking to the children, who were being tended to by some neighbors, and asked them where their parents were.
“They said they were in the apartment deceased,” Crowson said. “Officers made entry into that apartment, and found an adult male and an adult female. They’re both deceased in the apartment.”
Initial observations led officers to suspect that the male killed the female before killing himself, and that at least 24 hours had passed before the children ventured outside in search of food. Homicide investigators were on the scene at the time of Crowson’s statement. The Mirror US has contacted the department for further information.
“Right now, we don’t believe there’s a danger to the public,” Crowson added.
Police have not identified the couple, nor the children.
Neighbor Deborah McMillan told ABC 13 Eyewitness News that though she was devastated by the incident, she was not surprised by it. She said the woman had tried to leave her husband before the incident.
“She came over a few times, asking to use the phone. I would talk to her, try to tell her, ‘Hey, it’s not worth it,'” she said. “Her main thing is that she didn’t want to leave because of the kids.”
McMillan said that as a domestic violence survivor, she understands the victims’ struggle.
“Don’t think this is your only way to live, to stay in a situation like this. It’s not, believe me,” she told ABC. “I survived. I’m out. I’m healthy, living, loving.”
Houston police have not reported the killings as the result of a domestic abuse incident.
