BREAKING NEWS: ESPN Analyst Advises New York Giants to Steer Clear of Aaron Rodgers .giang

With Aaron Rodgers now a free agent, speculation continues over whether the four-time MVP quarterback will continue his career and, if so, where he might land. Among the teams mentioned as a potential destination is the New York Giants, a franchise currently in search of stability at the quarterback position.

While rumors persist that the Giants may attempt to trade up for the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, their plans remain uncertain. As a result, Rodgers’ name has surfaced as a possible short-term solution—a scenario that ESPN analyst Dan Graziano strongly opposes.

During an appearance on Get Up on Monday, Graziano emphatically argued against the idea of the Giants pursuing Rodgers, citing the disastrous consequences the quarterback had on his last team, the New York Jets.

“You’re suggesting that the Giants’ coach and GM need to hire Aaron Rodgers to save their jobs,” Graziano said.
“I guess we can go to Florham Park and see how Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas are enjoying their contract extensions that they got from the Jets ’cause they brought in Aaron Rodgers. How does that make any sense?

Graziano continued his passionate rant, pointing out that Rodgers’ arrival in New York ultimately led to major organizational instability rather than success.

“He’s the guy you hire if you want to lose your job! We saw this the last couple years. The entire Jets building got fired! I don’t understand what on Earth—I mean, Mike McCarthy got fired in Green Bay. I don’t understand how that makes things… like he’s the guy….That’s a desperation move, but it’s not the right one. I don’t get it. If you’re on thin ice, that is not the guy I would bring in.”

Rodgers’ Jets Tenure: A Warning for the Giants?

Graziano’s comments refer to Rodgers’ tumultuous tenure with the Jets, which started with sky-high expectations but quickly unraveled.

  • In 2023, Rodgers tore his Achilles just four snaps into the season opener, leaving the Jets scrambling. Without him, the team finished with a 7-10 record.
  • In 2024, Rodgers started all 17 games, but the Jets regressed significantly, finishing with a 5-12 record, leading to sweeping changes across the organization.

The Giants, meanwhile, have also struggled in recent years, going 6-11 in 2023 and then 3-14 in 2024. While Rodgers’ resume suggests he could provide veteran leadership, his recent struggles and locker-room influence raise serious concerns about whether he is the right fit for a team looking to rebuild.

The Giants’ Quarterback Conundrum

With Daniel Jones no longer in the picture, the Giants are still figuring out their next move at quarterback. While some reports suggest they are exploring a trade for the No. 1 overall pick to land a top rookie QB, nothing has materialized yet, leaving every option on the table—including Rodgers.

However, as Graziano emphasized, bringing in Rodgers at this stage would not be a smart move for a franchise already on shaky ground. Given his recent injury history, declining production, and the drama that followed him in New York, the risk might outweigh the reward.

If the Giants are truly in desperation mode, Rodgers could buy them some time, but as Graziano pointed out, history suggests it could do more harm than good.
