Ali Wong won big at the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 5, but when she didn’t walk the red carpet with boyfriend Bill Hader or thank him in her acceptance speech, fans thought the two might’ve broken up.
However, a representative for Hader tells PEOPLE that the actor, 46, and the comedian, 42, are still going strong.
“Bill was not able to attend the Globes due to a pre-existing eye condition that flared up and he was advised by his doctor to stay home and rest,” the rep explains. “He and Ali are still together.”
Wong beat out Jamie Foxx, Nikki Glaser, Seth Meyers, Adam Sandler and Ramy Youssef to take home the best performance in stand-up comedy on television award for her Netflix special Single Lady.
“I come from San Francisco, and that’s where I started doing stand-up,” she said while accepting the honor at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. “And I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all the stage time that I got there and all the practice I got to become a stand-up comedian.”
The mom of two proceeded to thank Molly Schminke from the SF Punchline Comedy Club and her best friend Mia. “Mia, thank you so much for all of your love and support throughout the years,” Wong said. “And this means a lot. Thank you so much!”

Wong and Hader attended the 2024 Golden Globes together, and when Wong won for her role in Beef, Hader gave her a kiss before she made her way up to the stage. In her acceptance speech for best actress in a limited series, anthology series or a motion picture, Wong thanked her ex-husband, Justin Hakuta.
“I really need to thank the father of my children and my best friend, Justin, for all of your love and support,” she said. “It’s because of you that I’m able to be a working mother.”
PEOPLE confirmed in April 2023 that Hader and Wong, who dated briefly in fall 2022, rekindled their romance following her separation from Hakuta one year earlier. Wong and Hakuta finalized their divorce in May 2024.
“I didn’t expect the news of my divorce to be so widespread and public,” Wong said in Single Lady. “I felt really embarrassed and ashamed, but I didn’t realize that all of these media outlets were acting like a Bat-Signal, letting all potentially interested men know that I was suddenly available. I’ve never been pursued this much in my life.”
Wong revealed that a mutual friend gave Hader her number after they ran into each other following her separation. She recounted how Hader reached out to her with the following message: “Hey, Ali. I just happened to hear the news of your divorce today, and I gotta tell you…I’m excited.’ I am, Ali, because, look, I have had a crush on you forever, and I actually told my best friend years ago that you were my dream girl. And I know this sounds crazy, but, uh, I want you to be my girlfriend.”
