Bill Belichick’s close friend and general manager at the University of North Carolina has laughed off claims that Tom Brady is attempting to recruit him to walk away from college football to become the Las Vegas Raiders’ new head coach.
Over the last 24 hours, rumors have intensified that Belichick could be tempted with a move back to the NFL should the right opportunity present itself.
As the Raiders look for their new head coach after firing Antonio Pierce, Belichick’s name has been mentioned among with a number of potential candidates, as Brady has begun to get involved in the search for their new man.

Of course, Brady and Belichick worked together for 20 seasons, winning six Super Bowl championships together with the New England Patriots.
However, it does not appear that Belichick will listen to the Raiders potential attempts, with him seemingly committed to college football for the upcoming 2025 season.
Lombardi is a close friend of Belichick’s, working with him with the Cleveland Browns and the Patriots while winning two Super Bowl’s together while they were both hired by UNC at the same time – with it being believed that Lombardi’s hiring was a prerequisite to Belichick being hired.
A regular guest on the McAfee show, Lombardi appeared once again on Friday to speak on the rumors. When asked if Belichick is committed to UNC, Lombardi said: “Completely committed, 1,000 percent committed. Guys that do the insider stuff for the NFL, they’ve got to put stories out there. That one was a complete falsehood. Coach Belichick, when that story came out, was recruiting South Jersey… That story just had no legs.
“I think what often happens in rumoring, and I know this from doing it in the league, is people try to make a connection. A to B equals C. That’s not always the case.
“Yes, Tom Brady is being involved with interviews, yes Tom Brady is doing research on coaching candidates, yes Tom Brady is calling people up for advice and council… but don’t assume because he’s doing that that he wants Bill Belichick.
“Bill Belichick committed to North Carolina, he committed to me, he committed to the university. There’s been no conversation about anything.”
