Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who has been facing a series of sexual assault and human trafficking lawsuits since last year, was arrested on September 16.

According to CNN, Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested at a Manhattan hotel at 8:15 p.m. on September 16. Attorney Damian Williams of the US Attorney’s Office said the arrest was made based on an indictment that will be announced soon.

The charges and details of the case against the rapper are still unclear. “We expect to announce the indictment tomorrow morning (September 17 local time) and will have more to say at that time,” attorney Williams shared.

Meanwhile, Marc Agnifilo – Diddy’s defense attorney – said he was disappointed with the decision to pursue the lawsuit because he thought the rapper was unfairly prosecuted. Because before that, Diddy cooperated with the investigation agency, voluntarily moved to New York last week to prepare for these allegations.

Agnifilo said his client could be charged with extortion and sex trafficking, but he maintained Diddy’s innocence.

Speaking to CNN, Agnifilo emphasized: “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, a self-made businessman, a loving family man and a philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, loving his children and working to uplift the black community. He is not perfect but he is not a criminal.”

Diddy, whose real name is Sean John Combs, is an American rapper, singer, record producer, record executive and actor. He is famous for his music production companies and owns a huge fortune. His close friends are mostly super-rich.

In March, Diddy’s mansions in Los Angeles and Miami were raided by the US Department of Homeland Security. The search was part of an investigation into a series of serious allegations against Diddy. One of the lawsuits comes from Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who accuses the rapper of “using his money and power to cover up evidence of physical and emotional abuse.” Diddy has repeatedly denied the allegations.
